With color, too much is better than too little. Colors of the spectrum work better in a tattoo than do earth tones. (That's my opinion, anyway.) All colored tattoos will fade with time, so it is important to use the highest intensity colors that I can and make it as bright as possible so that it will be long lasting.

Color works well in almost all types of skin. I vary the color used to work the best with whatever kind of skin that you have. The paler your complexion, the more that various colors will show up on you. Every skin type except for albino contains pigment (color) of it's own. Preexisting pigment does have an effect on the outcome of the color that gets injected into the skin with the tattoo process, so I have to make adjustments to suit the individual. No two people have skin that is exactly alike.

If you want to figure out what kinds of colors would work well on you, imagine a piece of paper with color identical to your skin tone. Now imagine painting with transparent watercolor that sinks down into the paper before it dries. The outcome would be an approximation of what a certain color would look like on you. Another way to visualize (or even try for real, like a science experiment!) is to place a piece of colored transparent acetate over your own skin and see the result. Blue will not be blue on a very brown skinned person. But red will probably still be red. This may give an indication of what kinds of color will work well on you.

A colorful tattoo is a visual knockout, and a joy to have on your skin. If you want to invest in a color tattoo, remember a few things- the color will stay bright for much longer if you stay out of the sun. Color tattoos and tanning salons are not friends. If you like the beach, or go to tanning salons, you'll have to cover you color tattoo with a piece of fabric, or at the very least, the strongest sunblock you can find. If you can't live without sunning, perhaps a black and grey tattoo is more your speed.

Each tattoo was drawn for the individual who has it; no design is repeated exactly the same way a second time. The photos on this website are meant to show the style of work I do, they are not meant to be designs to choose from. Ask for a free consultation to get the tattoo meant especially for you!
